Well our WA trip is going very well. Flat out yesterday in Perth, but totally worth it. The situation in WA is worse than I first researched. Talking to people face to face who are working in the area including solicitors and psychiatrists, its the best way to get the real story of what’s happening on the ground. We can confirm that this is the only jurisdiction in the OECD that incarcerates (imprisons) accused, but non-convicted (!!!) mentally impaired (intellectually disabled, ABI, cognitive disordered, mental disordered) Australians - INDEFINITELY. That’s right, custody orders that have no end date. With no trial, no conviction. This is Patrick and I using a cafe as an office.
